Business Management (Marketing) BA – 2024

I’m proud to be part of a university that champions diversity, creativity, and personal growth.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

When I was researching universities, I was looking for more than just a place to study. I wanted a community that valued creativity, diversity, and real-world impact. The University of Westminster stood out immediately. From its central London location to its strong emphasis on global perspectives and industry connections, it felt like the perfect fit. Choosing Westminster wasn’t just an academic decision—it was a personal one. It gave me the confidence, skills, and exposure I needed to grow both professionally and as a person.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

What I have particularly enjoyed about this program is how practical and hands-on it is. The blend of academic theory with real-world applications made the learning feel relevant and engaging. A great example will be the New Product Development module. I appreciated the group projects and industry-focused assignments—they pushed me to think critically, collaborate effectively, and develop skills I know I’ll use in my career. The support from lecturers, by bringing industry experts as guest lecturers, also made a big difference. Providing networking opportunities to meet professionals from various industries, connect with multiple students from different courses and campuses, was a great way to expand my horizon and get the most out of my university experience.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic and lecturer support throughout my studies has been incredibly reassuring. From day one, I felt genuinely cared about our progress and wellbeing. Lecturers were approachable, responsive, and always willing to offer guidance, whether it was during office hours, over email, or in class discussions. They didn’t just teach the material—they challenged us to think deeper, encouraged creativity, and supported us when things felt overwhelming. That level of support made a huge difference in my confidence and academic journey. I confidently speak about my lecturers to my mates outside of university, how great they were and gave me opportunities that I had never thought of.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The learning spaces were modern, well-equipped, and designed to support individual and collaborative work, which made a huge difference in the quality of our projects. The library was a getaway and to put all my focus and get quality work done on my assignments.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?

Yes, I made full use of the University’s Careers and Employability Service, and it was a game-changer in my university experience. I first came across the service during my first year, and what really impressed me was how frequently it was updated with new resources, workshops, employability awards, and networking events. It was clear that the team was genuinely invested in helping students build their careers.

Thanks to this service, I landed two incredible opportunities. One was working as a Digital Ambassador, which allowed me to build my digital communication and content creation skills. The other was joining the Westminster Business School LinkedIn group, where I later became a LinkedIn Coordinator. This role helped me develop new professional skills, grow my confidence, provide helpful resources and connect with like-minded peers and industry professionals.

Beyond just professional development, these roles also introduced me to some amazing people—I made great friends and built lasting relationships that extended well beyond the workplace. I’m really grateful for the Careers and Employability Service for opening so many doors and making my university journey so rewarding.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

One of the highlights outside of my course was a memorable trip to Cornwall, which included a visit to the Eden Project. It was incredible to explore the massive biomes and learn about global sustainability and biodiversity in such an immersive environment. We also visited St Austell, where we explored the beautiful shores, and spent time at the Lost Gardens of Heligan, which felt like stepping into a hidden, magical world.

The trip was not only educational but also a much-needed getaway after completing a busy period of assignments. I made new friends, enjoyed some quality time with my peers, and returned feeling refreshed and recharged, willingness to travel the world and discover more amazing places.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice would be to go for it and make the most of every opportunity Westminster offers. It’s more than just a place to study—it’s a place where you’ll grow personally and professionally. Don’t hesitate to get involved in events, workshops, and networking opportunities; they can open doors you didn’t even know existed. The university is full of support—from lecturers to career services—so don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Be open, be curious, and embrace the diversity and energy that make Westminster such a special place.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The best aspect of being a University of Westminster student is the sense of belonging within such a diverse community. You’re surrounded by people from all walks of life, which creates an environment full of fresh perspectives and global ideas. On top of that, the university really encourages personal and professional growth—whether through academic support, real-world learning experiences, or career development opportunities. It’s a place where you feel seen, supported, and inspired to become the best version of yourself.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

The most surprising aspect of my Westminster experience was how many unexpected opportunities came my way outside the classroom. I never imagined I’d become a Digital Ambassador or help manage a LinkedIn group as a LinkedIn Coordinator—but those roles helped me grow both professionally and personally. I also didn’t expect to form such strong friendships through university-led trips and activities. What surprised me most was how much I grew in confidence, simply by saying yes to new experiences and getting involved in the wider university community.
