Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I looked at various courses in my subject area, and I felt that Westminster had the right course for me, offering a diverse range of topics, not just tailored to programming. The course leader felt inspiring when visiting one of the Open Days, showing a lot of passion and energy, and it helped me with my decision-making about which university to go to. The campus is also based in Central London, making travel convenient and easy. The university also embraces diversity, and throughout my journey, I have met a lot of wonderful people!

Tell us about your course (what have you particularly enjoyed about the programme)?

The programme blends theory and practice together, so you’re not just learning, but you’re also applying what you’ve learnt to a real project. For example, you could write a report on chatbots or spam filtering artificial intelligence and implement what you’ve written about, both teaching and engaging you. I’ve felt that I’ve not just gained knowledge, but I have also developed valuable skills.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The computer labs feel industry standard and provide all the tools and resources you can think of to carry out your assignments and projects. Additionally, study spaces such as the Innovation Space are great for group studying and relaxing in a calm environment.

Have you used the University Careers and Employability Service? If yes, tell us about your experience

Using the Engage platform, I applied for a Talent Bank role as a Web Editor within the university’s marketing team. This experience has helped me build valuable skills and grow both personally and professionally, boosting my confidence in my abilities and employability. I’ve also made use of careers appointments to refine my CV, learn how to craft a strong cover letter, and explore different strategies for finding job opportunities.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

Meet and make friends with people who are not just on your course. Engage in societies and have fun! If you’re also looking for a flexible part-time role while you study, make use of Talent Bank. There’s a range of exciting opportunities, and you’ll benefit so much from it.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

Meeting a diverse range of people. I have been very fortunate to meet incredible people in and out of my course, which has helped with my personal growth.

Is there anything you would like to share about your Westminster experience

This journey has honestly helped me in ways I couldn’t have imagined before my time at university. Not just in the professional sense of gaining new skills and knowledge, but also as a person. I’ve developed my confidence and courage, and I feel ready to dive into the world!
