Biomedical Science MSc – 2025
The University of Westminster has challenged me, opened new doors, and helped me discover passions I didn’t expect. I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had and excited for what’s next.
Why did you choose the University of Westminster?
The University of Westminster stood out to me because of its course structure, location, and strong emphasis on employability. I liked that the Biomedical Science programme offered a mix of academic knowledge and lab-based learning, and I appreciated how diverse and welcoming the university community seemed. The central London location was also a big plus.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Studying in London has been a great experience. It’s such a diverse place to learn and live. I really enjoy being on campus; it’s a comfortable and convenient environment with everything I need, from a welcoming canteen to quiet study spaces. I spend a lot of time in the library between lectures, and there are plenty of places to catch up with friends too, which makes university life feel manageable and enjoyable.
What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?
I have really enjoyed how the Biomedical Science MSc balances theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical work. The lab sessions have been one of my favourite parts; they help bring the concepts we learn in lectures to life and give a better understanding of how things work in a real research or clinical setting.
The variety of modules also makes the course interesting and allows us to explore different areas within the field.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The academic support at Westminster has been incredible. Lecturers are approachable and genuinely want to help, whether it’s clarifying a topic after class or offering guidance on assignments. They’ve been supportive throughout my studies, especially during busy or challenging times, and I’ve always felt comfortable reaching out when I needed advice or extra help in a specific module.
Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?
Yes, definitely. The science labs are very well equipped, giving us hands-on experience with tools and techniques used in real research and clinical environments.
Another standout aspect is the opportunity to gain practical experience through placements and internships during the course. These allow you to apply what you’ve learned in a professional setting, often in laboratory environments, build your portfolio, and gain insight into potential career paths.
How has Zone29 - our home of careers and enterprise - helped you with your career journey?
I’ve used Zone29 to get support with improving my CV and preparing for interviews. They offer useful workshops and one-to-one appointments, which helped me feel more confident when applying for part-time roles and thinking ahead to future career options.
It’s a great resource to have alongside academic studies, and I would definitely recommend that students make use of it early on.
