Business Management (Economics) BA Honours- 2022

The University is well known for welcoming students from many different countries with various backgrounds; as a result, I had the chance to make friends from all over the world

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

After carefully reviewing all my options, I chose the University of Westminster because of the University’s high reputation among business schools in the city. Furthermore, I was impressed by the great atmosphere during an Open Day. The possibility to take a full year abroad or just a semester abroad was another crucial detail that helped to finalise my choice. The University is well known for welcoming students from many different countries with various backgrounds; as a result, I had the chance to make friends from all over the world.

How has your experience been studying in London?

The strategic central position of the majority of the campuses allows students to have many different opportunities that might not be otherwise available. My experience as a Business Management (Economics) BA student has been excellent, as I managed to develop personally and professionally.

It is also important to mention that Covid-19 impacted my studies since the campus has been shut down for several months, however, Westminster made sure to provide all the tools needed to maintain a high level of education while offering mental support to all the students.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I have highly enjoyed the Business Management (Economics) BA as it provided me with a good understanding of the main areas of business. I particularly enjoyed the way the modules are taught: attending the various seminars after class helps students to clarify concepts and ideas. Upon completing this course, my degree will allow me to pursue any career path that I want to pursue, whether finance or sales. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to establish a career in finance or in the economics field.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

Everyone in the academic team is extremely supportive and they encourage you to seek advice to achieve the best possible results. During my third year, several lecturers guided me through the preparation and writing of my dissertation – their help has been crucial.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

As part of the Westminster Business School, you are eligible for a free subscription to the Financial Times, which is an incredible tool to build and extend your knowledge in the field.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service

I used the University Careers and Employability Service when I asked for advice on my CV and on how to conduct a job interview. I had the opportunity to book a call with an academic staff member who supported me and gave me constructive feedback. Personally, I found this opportunity extremely beneficial.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

During my studies, I had the opportunity to apply for a Business Development position at Westminster Business Consultants (WBC). WBC is a non-profit organisation run by students from the University of Westminster and it offers various consulting services.

It has been an enormously humbling experience as I have learnt so much about myself as a person because of the challenges faced and development that I have undergone while working at WBC. WBC represents probably the best opportunity a student has whilst at University that offers a real taste of what it is like to work in the corporate world.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

The opportunity to meet and become friends with like-minded students from all over the world! Learning about new cultures has been extremely stimulating for my personal and professional development.
