How has your experience been studying in London?

Studying in London has been an incredible experience. The city offers a unique blend of cultures, opportunities, and experiences that make student life exciting and dynamic. From world-class museums and historical landmarks to networking events and career opportunities, London provides an environment where learning extends far beyond the classroom. The fast-paced, multicultural atmosphere has helped me grow both personally and professionally, preparing me for a global career.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

One of the aspects I’ve particularly enjoyed about my course is its practical and real-world focus. The curriculum is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience, ensuring students are well-prepared for their careers. The course structure encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, which has been incredibly beneficial in shaping my skills and understanding of the field.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic support at Westminster has been exceptional. The lecturers are not only knowledgeable but also approachable and supportive. They are always willing to offer guidance, whether it’s academic advice, career insights, or personal development support. Their encouragement has played a key role in my academic success and overall university experience.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

Yes, Westminster offers excellent facilities that enhance the learning experience. The libraries are well-equipped with a vast range of resources, and the digital learning platforms make accessing study materials seamless. A particular highlight is the Legal Advice Clinic, which provides students with the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience by working with real clients under the supervision of qualified professionals. Additionally, the University’s commitment to modern teaching methods, including workshops, industry talks, and hands-on projects, provides a comprehensive learning environment that goes beyond traditional lectures.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service  

I have engaged with the University Careers and Employability Service, and it has been incredibly helpful. The service offers a wide range of resources, from career workshops and CV-writing support to networking events and job fairs. One standout feature is the 1-2-1 service, where I was able to receive personalized advice on career planning, CV refinement, and interview techniques. Additionally, the Careers and Employability Service is not just available to current students but also to alumni, ensuring ongoing support as we transition into our professional careers. This holistic approach has been invaluable in shaping my professional journey and providing the tools needed to succeed in the job market.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course  

Outside of my course, I have been actively involved in various societies at the university, which have greatly enhanced my student experience. These societies have provided opportunities to meet like-minded individuals, engage in diverse activities, and develop new skills. Through my involvement in these societies, I got to know about the Sabbatical Officers and the impact they have on student life. Inspired by this, I decided to run for Vice President of Welfare and later became President of the Students' Union. These roles allowed me to make a real difference, contribute to positive changes on campus, and further develop my leadership abilities.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice would be to make the most of every opportunity available to you at Westminster. The university offers a vibrant, diverse environment where you can get involved in academic, extracurricular, and leadership activities. Don’t hesitate to join societies, attend events, and engage with fellow students and staff. It’s also important to take advantage of the support services the university provides, from academic guidance to career services. By being proactive and taking initiative, you can shape your university experience to be fulfilling and transformative.

The best aspect of being a University of Westminster student is the sense of community and the range of opportunities for personal and professional growth. The location in the heart of London adds an extra dimension to student life, offering access to countless cultural, career, and networking opportunities. Being a student here means being part of a forward-thinking, supportive, and dynamic environment.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

One of the most surprising aspects of my Westminster experience was how quickly I was able to develop leadership skills and take on meaningful responsibilities. I never expected to be so deeply involved in student governance, and being able to make a tangible impact on student life, from my role as Vice President of Welfare to President of the Students' Union, was incredibly rewarding. I was also pleasantly surprised by the level of support and guidance I received from both my peers and staff, which helped me grow both personally and professionally.
