Fashion Business Management with Professional Experience BA – 2026

As an international student, choosing the right university was everything. What drew me to the University of Westminster was how current the Fashion Business Management modules were. They reflected what the industry actually needed. Employment after graduation was always on my mind, and the university's focus on making students industry-ready gave me the confidence to choose it. It felt like the right place to build a fashion career in London.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

As an international student, choosing the right university was everything. What drew me to the University of Westminster was how current the Fashion Business Management modules were. They reflected what the industry actually needed. Employment after graduation was always on my mind, and the university's focus on making students industry-ready gave me the confidence to choose it. It felt like the right place to build a fashion career in London.

Tell us about your course (what have you particularly enjoyed about the programme)?

The variety of modules really stood out to me, as they helped build a strong understanding of the fashion business as a whole. By the time you attend interviews, you already have real projects to showcase. Regular guest speakers from industry also provide valuable opportunities to connect with professionals you would not normally have access to. In addition, the tutors consistently bring their industry experience into teaching, and the classes are interactive, encouraging students to actively contribute their ideas and perspectives to discussions.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic lecturers truly made my experience memorable. They were always attentive, supportive, and proactive—often reaching out whenever they came across opportunities they thought might interest me. What I appreciated most was their genuine commitment to helping me move in the direction I wanted to pursue. They took the time to understand me as an individual, and my feedback was always welcomed, valued, and thoughtfully considered.

Where did you undertake your work placement?

Fendi Roma - LVMH

Did you use the University Careers and Employability Service in securing a placement?

To secure my placement, I took full advantage of the university careers and employment service. I participated in a mock interview to prepare thoroughly for the actual interview, and I had my CV and cover letter reviewed to ensure they were perfectly tailored to the job I’m applying for.

I found the placement opportunity through LinkedIn, and my lecturers always tell us the importance of having a LinkedIn profile.

What was the application process for your placement?

After submitting my CV and cover letter, I had an online interview with the HR team in Italy. Following that, I completed a second interview with the HR team in London. After progressing through these stages, I was invited to interview with the Area Manager at Fendi. Finally, I had the opportunity to meet my direct line manager and visit the location where I would be working. Overall, it was a competitive process.

How has your course helped you with your work placement?

The course included two specific modules in my first and second years that were dedicated to preparing us for the job market. I found these sessions incredibly valuable, as they focused on improving our teamwork and communication skills. Additionally, we had the opportunity to take industry-relevant courses and access LinkedIn Learning. One memorable experience was when our tutors encouraged us to complete an Inside LVMH certificate, which I believe played a notable role in helping me secure a job at Fendi within the LVMH group. It was truly a turning point in my career journey!

Please provide examples of the type of work you've been undertaking/ undertook on your placement?

I worked on a six-month project focused on sales, market and competitor analysis, where I developed new ideas and proposals. I had the opportunity to prepare morning briefs for the team, which involved analysing key store figures using Power BI and Excel, and creating draft materials for meetings. Additionally, I supported each department with VIP in-store events, assisting the marketing manager with data collection and coordination. In collaboration with the operations manager, I was responsible for logging details into the system and handling shipments.

What have you learnt and what skills did you gain during your placement?

Through my placement, I developed a range of transferable skills including data analysis, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management. Working across departments and supporting VIP events taught me how to communicate effectively and collaborate with people at all levels. Preparing daily briefs sharpened my reporting and presentation skills, while handling system logging and shipments built my attention to detail. Overall, the placement made me a stronger communicator, a more confident team player, and a better problem solver.

How do you plan to use your placement experience in your professional future?

My placement has opened my eyes to the many directions my career could take. Being in a professional environment taught me how to think strategically, manage relationships, and make decisions under pressure. It has given me a clearer sense of what I enjoy and where my strengths lie. I am excited to apply that mindset to my entrepreneurial future.

What would be your advice to someone considering studying at Westminster?

Definitely go for it and put yourself out there. There's a lot of support, and you'll certainly meet like-minded people here. These opportunities and connections will help you achieve your goals and push you to become a better version of yourself.

The university supported me in launching a student community focused on fashion sustainability, which has since grown to include students from other major universities across the city. The project was recognised with the SDG 2026 Westminster Award, which was a great validation of the work I've been putting in. To help bring the initiative to life, I secured funding from both WeNetwork and the Ignite Fund, so it's been a real exercise in entrepreneurship. I have had the opportunity to participate in the Westminster Working Culture program, which takes students to key locations around the globe to understand each country's working culture.
