Why did you choose the University of Westminster? 

I was looking for a university that offered a dynamic combination of user experience design, XR, and augmented reality. When I came across the University of Westminster’s Interactive Media Practice MA, it felt like the perfect fit. I also researched the lecturers and was impressed by their strong professional portfolios. In addition, my communication with the university staff was always positive, they were responsive, helpful, and provided clear answers to all my questions.

How was your experience studying in London? 

My experience was very positive. I especially enjoyed the Harrow Campus, which is set in a beautiful, green environment. Living on campus allowed me to fully experience it, while also giving me the opportunity to explore different parts of Northwest and Central London.

Tell us about your course (what did you particularly enjoy about the programme)? 

My course, Interactive Media Practice MA, is a multidisciplinary programme focused on digital creativity and technology, with modules covering UX design, marketing, and augmented reality. What I enjoyed most was its practical approach. Alongside the theory, we built XR applications, created business plans, designed proofs of concept, and developed content and marketing strategies. This hands-on experience helped me build a strong and diverse portfolio.

How did you find the academic/ lecturer support as part of your studies? 

The academic support was excellent. Lecturers were always available and willing to help, and additional support outside of lectures was both accessible and valuable. This meant I never felt stuck, whether academically or while adjusting to life in London. The strength of the support and the course ultimately helped me graduate with distinction.

Were there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The computer labs were particularly useful, as it gave me access to additional tools and resources to practise and develop my skills.

Can you tell us about your current role and share a bit about your responsibilities? 

I currently work as a Business Intelligence Analyst within an NHS Trust. My role involves creating reports and dashboards using Advanced Excel, SQL, and Power BI. I produce reports for Freedom of Information requests and other data enquiries, as well as dashboards that provide stakeholders with actionable insights to improve patient outcomes. I also prepare regular reports for submission to NHS England on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

How has your course prepared you for your current role and a career in your industry? 

One of my biggest takeaways from the course is that my degree is a launchpad, not a blueprint. It taught me the importance of adaptability and embracing a “T-shaped” mindset. The skills I developed, such as UX design, storytelling, and prototyping—have been highly transferable and helped me transition into a new career path. They’ve enabled me to upskill quickly, understand my audience, communicate effectively, and apply iterative development and feedback in my work.

Tell us about any activities that you undertook outside of your course?

Outside of my studies, I built strong connections with my course mates, attended hackathons, and explored London’s tech scene.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster? 

Do your research and be clear about what you want to gain from your course and your time at Westminster. Setting goals will help you stay focused and make the most of your experience. Be open-minded, engage with others, and take full advantage of the resources available. Connect with current students and alumni, believe in your abilities, and aim high. Westminster can provide the platform to achieve your ambitions.

What was the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

For me, it was the combination of studying in London and having access to the wide range of resources and support that Westminster provides, which made my experience smooth and rewarding.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

The biggest surprise for me was the Harrow Campus—it’s a beautiful environment and remains one of my favourite places in London.
