My course provided great academic support. The lecturers were quick to respond to any concerns, and they were always willing to answer questions or expand on any potential topics. I appreciated the combination of both in-person and online lectures. Altogether, the course leaders and academic staff were very kind, understanding and always willing to help the students.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

After deciding to study for a master's degree, I began researching the top universities with courses in marketing, communications and public relations. The University of Westminster had amazing programmes in the communication field that I wanted to explore further. After reading through the modules of the Public Relations MA, I felt like it was exactly what I wanted to study and expand my knowledge on. The course also has a lot of international students, which I found really appealing, as it allowed me to work with people from around the world. Additionally, the locations of the campuses are outstanding, as they are right in the heart of London.

How has your experience been studying in London?

Studying for my master's in London has been excellent. From the city's historical architecture to the modern skyscrapers that complete the skyline, there is always something new to explore. I love the multicultural aspects of London that allow you to encounter new cultures, connect with a diverse range of people and experience new things. London provides incredible opportunities for employment and networking.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I really like how our course leaders can combine the theoretical and practical aspects of public relations. I find that our assignments are representative of what we would actually be doing in our field of work. I enjoy the balance between individual and group work, as it helps us prepare for future leadership roles and working as part of a team.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The classrooms and lecture halls are great, and there are additional resources available such as the library and other incredible facilities that offer students have access to.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service 

I have just applied for the University's 'Future Ready Mentoring' programme after hearing about my friends' great experience! I'm very excited to get in contact with an industry professional who can help me further establish my connections to kickstart a career in London. I have also used the University's Careers and Employability Service to attend online events to shape my CV and prepare for interviews. I've also volunteered in different positions within the University and my community.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course 

As I am studying for a master's degree, I do not have much time to spend on extra-curricular activities outside my programme. I have been recently looking for more volunteering experiences through the University Careers and Employability Service to enrich my experience while in London and hopefully connect with more like-minded people in the city.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice for anyone considering studying at Westminster would be to always say yes to any opportunities that might come your way and take full advantage of all the resources the University offers you. Whether It is a networking event or an online session to improve your interview skills, it is a great way to meet people, connect and stand out in your circle of peers. Also, do not be afraid to explore London and experience new things. That's the beauty of attending a university right in the middle of a gorgeous city!

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The best aspect of being a University of Westminster student is the networking opportunities the course leaders provide us with. I really enjoy it when industry professionals come in and talk to us, answer our questions and give us an insider's perspective. They usually offer their business card or email address for students to contact them. I enjoy hearing the various speakers talk about their experience as PR professionals and how they contribute to the overall success of an organisation.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

The most unexpected aspect of my Westminster experience has been the number of friendships I've been able to develop with other international students. I love hearing about the different experiences people have had from all around the world. I think it is a great way to make international connections that can be further explored in the future!
