Chief Specilist | The Antimonopoly Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

Economics and Finance BSc Honours – 2019

Westminster courses, notwithstanding their wide range, are very specific and focused on the main ideas.

What are you doing now?

I am currently working at the Antimonopoly Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan (anti-trust authority). Within my duties on the committee, in terms of identifying cases of excessive pricing, I participated in more than 15 cases. To date, more than 30 spheres are analysed and given institutions in order to boost competition. It's an honour for me to participate in such high-ranked events and be an executive of some.

What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster?

The most important experience that I have learned from my Westminster course is, undoubtedly, analysis and a serious attitude toward each task. During my studies, I always learned from my Westminster tutors about how they analysed the cases. I remember times when, before conducting any economic analysis, the first thing would be a literature review and the way the data is collected. Here at my workplace, I am going on with those past experiences.

Why would you recommend Westminster as a place to study?

Westminster courses, notwithstanding their wide range, are very specific and focused on the main ideas. For those who are doing complex research, I am sure this is the place where they should study. There are many opportunities to explore new methods, and ideas, as well as many other useful aspects that researchers may find.

What was the best thing about being a student in London?

I used to be a student at Westminster International University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Tashkent is also currently developing and soon may catch up with London.

What advice would you give someone thinking of pursuing a similar career to you?

I would advise students that if they have found enough coverage to set the main goal in their life, they should pursue it. Personally, I have doubted my career path about where should I take off, and suddenly Antirust authority came to my mind. This is the place that develops you both professionally and personally. The only thing is your dedication and ability to critically analyse. This way, you build up your professionalism!
