The academic support at the University has been tremendous, my favourite part about being a Westminster student so far. The lecturers are very engaging and adopt a conceptual approach, which makes learning more fun. The lectures give you an opportunity to grasp complicated concepts and are followed by tutorials where you have a chance to apply your knowledge into practical work. The academic staff are always available and dedicated to helping students to reach their full academic potential.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

As an international student with no experience of living in the UK, choosing the most suitable university to fulfil my personal goals and ambitions was very important to me. The main reasons for choosing the University of Westminster were its great location, academic staff, and the University’s reputation in research and diversity and inclusion. Since becoming a student at Westminster, I’ve felt empowered to dive into the world of endless possibilities and the opportunities to grow seem limitless.

How has your experience been studying in London?

London as a metropolitan city has great benefits, such as an efficient transportation system, healthcare and networking opportunities. It’s an ideal location for students looking to start a successful career. Living in London gives your career a head start with numerous opportunities that come your way. I’ve had a chance to network with industry professionals and it has really boosted my employability. Studying in London has helped me grow personally and professionally.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I’ve really enjoyed putting all the knowledge I’ve learned in class into practice. The Data Science and Analytics BSc does an exceptional job at giving students an all-around data science experience with its technical modules, coupled with the business modules. This combination helps you to understand both the technological and managerial sides of an organisation. The group projects that are a mandatory part of the course promote teamwork and communication, which are essential skills to have in the IT and business industries. Overall, the course is an ideal choice for students who are interested in getting involved in one of the most intriguing fields of technology.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service 

The University’s Careers and Employability Service is one of the best services that the institution provides. They offer great programmes, mentoring schemes and workshops hosted by industry professionals to help students make the most out of their careers. Thanks to the service, I managed to secure a placement with a company called London Property, which I’m very grateful for. The team helped me with every aspect of the application process including building my CV, drafting my covering letter, and preparing for the interview.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

My advice to someone considering studying at the University of Westminster would be to make sure you utilise all the fantastic services and facilities that the institution has to offer. Also, don’t forget to take advantage of the limitless networking opportunities available in such a diverse community. Cherish your time at the university, make friends, and explore your potential to the maximum.
