Specialised Translation MA – 2018

I really loved the hands-on approach to the course. I was taught translation techniques across a variety of fields (medical, legal, editorial, etc) as well as the basics of the main CAT tools.

What are you doing now?

I am currently working as a freelance Translator and Copywriter.

What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster?

I really loved the hands-on approach to the course. I was taught translation techniques across a variety of fields (medical, legal, editorial, etc) as well as the basics of the main CAT tools – these skills really boosted my CV and were incredibly useful when I started working.

Why would you recommend Westminster as a place to study?

It's such a dynamic environment, with many extracurricular opportunities (eg career events and the mentoring scheme) that give you the chance to ask important questions and really get a taste of the real world.

What was the best thing about being a student in London

The vibe and energy of the city. I remember riding a packed tube every day with a smile on my face because I was just so happy to go to university.

What advice would you give someone thinking of pursuing a similar career to you?

If it's a passion of yours, go for it. It has its hard times like everything, but if you truly want it you'll make it, and you'll thrive.
