Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

Architectural Technology BSc, as a course, was exactly what I wanted to do. Architectural design with a focus on buildability and practicality. I chose the University of Westminster for the high reputation in the field and the amazing on-site Creative and Advanced Technologies Lab and studio facilities available to students.

How has your experience been studying in London?

I first got to London as an exchange student in my first year, fell in love with the city and simply knew I had to return! That is why I transferred into the University of Westminster. London to me as a student has been more than just a place to live, it’s been my classroom. A place to learn, contemplate, educate and get educated, experience and explore without limit!

Tell us about your course and what have you particularly enjoyed?

Although I have always been an artsy and creative person, when I started studying architecture, I knew I wanted to focus on practicality and buildability. The Architectural Technology BSc course combined all the aspects of design, construction and architecture that I wanted to explore most!

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The tutors on my course were incredible in their involvement and dedication to supporting me as a student and an individual. I had an opportunity to get involved with many extracurricular projects through their support and significantly improve my academic work.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

The Creative and Advanced Technologies (CAT LAB) - within the Marylebone campus is absolutely an incomparable state-of-the-art facility. The variety of equipment, tools and materials available to students is unlike anything I have seen anywhere else.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

There have been at least two field trips every academic year. The most exciting, in my opinion, was the visit to the historic windmills in Kent! Every field trip was always a great opportunity to get more involved with the community and architecture.

I also participated in multiple extracurricular projects under the guidance of my tutors, such as the LFA (London Festival of Architecture) and Clerkenwell Design Week. I even had a project that was built and opened to the public - the Hawkhurst Community Fridge, in collaboration with my tutor Tabatha Mills and the Friends of Hawkhurst.

As well as that, I had the privilege of participating - and winning! - in several award ceremonies. Such as the CIAT Annual Awards, where I became finalist for the Student Report of the Year 2025; the CIAT Greater London Awards, where I won the Best Year 2 Student Project Award, and the awards within the university, where I won the Foster + Partners Award for Innovation in Design.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

Go for it! Westminster is an amazing university with outstanding facilities, particularly for architecture and the built environment. Studying here is a rewarding and exciting experience.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

The number of opportunities I had available to me to explore and get involved with! You truly feel involved with the industry, academic, professional and creative worlds!

What’s the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

I think I never expected to have access to a wide range of mediums and equipment. As a person passionate about crafting, material science, and experimentation, I was absolutely overjoyed with the number of options and opportunities I could explore in the CAT LAB.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your Westminster experience?

The industry connections the University of Westminster has are truly amazing and helpful. The integration of the professional and on-site opportunities into the studying process is unmatched.
