Biological Sciences BSc – 2025

The university offers incredible access to real-world experiences, from international trips to global internships, which made my degree both professionally enriching and personally inspiring.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster because of its strong emphasis on diversity, global engagement, and career development. I love the university’s multicultural environment and international outlook, and it aligned with my goals of gaining real-world experience and building a strong foundation for my future career.

How has your experience been studying in London?

Having grown up in London, studying here has felt both familiar and inspiring. The city’s diversity, energy, and endless opportunities make every day feel exciting and full of potential.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I chose to study Biological Sciences because I didn’t want to limit myself to a narrow field. The course offers a broad foundation and the flexibility to explore a wide range of topics that can be applied across many different fields. That’s exactly what I experienced during my degree. I studied everything from sustainability and gene editing to global ethics. I really appreciated the freedom and variety, not just in subjects, but also in the types of assignments and optional modules available.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic support I received was excellent. It was reassuring to know that my personal tutor was always responsive to my emails. I could easily reach out to my lecturers for guidance, and my Head of Course was incredibly supportive throughout my studies.

How has Zone29 - our home of careers and enterprise - helped you with your career journey?

Throughout my degree, I worked towards the Westminster Award through Zone29, reaching Platinum level and receiving an award for overall personal development. In my second year, I had the incredible opportunity to join a Westminster Working Cultures international trip to Toronto, a short programme where you visit workplaces, meet professionals, and gain real insight into different industries.

I also held a part-time role with the Cavendish Living Lab, a university initiative focused on real-world sustainability projects, which I secured through the university’s careers platform. In my third year, I completed a funded internship with the United Nations in Botswana through a Westminster programme.

All of these experiences were both professionally enriching and personally inspiring, and I think it’s safe to say I made the most of what Zone29 has to offer.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

I participated in a course trip to La Loma Viva, a farm in Spain, where I took part in a workshop on regenerative agriculture and sustainable living. I also joined the WWC Toronto trip to gain insights into working internationally and building professional networks.

On campus, I served as a representative for the Reading and Discussion Society. I also worked with the Cavendish Living Lab as a Greener Future Leader, delivering sustainability workshops in schools across Westminster.

All of these experiences were truly transformative and deepened my understanding in ways that were both inspiring and unforgettable.
