I chose the University of Westminster because they offered a course that combined both software and hardware, which interested me.
How has your experience been studying in London?
Having lived in London my whole life, studying in London is convenient and natural. I am already familiar with the city, so I can focus more on my studies while still enjoying the different parts of London.
Tell us about your course and what have you particularly enjoyed?
The Software Engineering with Electronics BEng combines theoretical and practical knowledge of software and hardware.
I've learnt programming languages such as C++ and learnt about different electronic components. What I have particularly enjoyed about the programme is building electronic circuits with the breadboard and learning how software and hardware interact.
How have you found academic support as part of your studies?
The lecturers on the course have been very helpful and supportive. They've provided useful resources and guidance to assist my studies. They have always been open, honest, and willing to listen and respond to my questions or concerns.
Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course
I am planning to learn a language through the university’s open language programme, Polylang.
What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?
I would tell them to make the most of the opportunities available. If they are interested in a course that blends hardware and software like software engineering with electronics, then the University of Westminster is a great choice. The lecturers are supportive, and you'll get hands-on experience working with code and electronic systems.
What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?
One of the best aspects of being a University of Westminster student is meeting a diverse range of people and learning things from different perspectives. I also like that the University of Westminster is inclusive and welcoming, and accommodating to people with different life and learning experiences.
What’s the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?
One of the most surprising aspects of my experience at Westminster is how easy it is to travel to the university from my home. I assumed it would be slightly difficult, but the commute has been easy and quick.
