Tourism Management BA – 2026

Westminster is a university that combines diversity, real-world learning, and a prime location.

Why did you choose the University of Westminster?

I chose the University of Westminster for a few key reasons. Firstly, its central London location means you're right at the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant cities, with direct access to countless opportunities in the events and tourism industries. Secondly, the course offering stood out to me—it felt modern, connected to industry, and relevant to the real world. I also appreciated the university’s strong links to employers and how embedded it is within the city’s cultural and professional landscape. It just felt like the right fit for the career I wanted to build.

What have you particularly enjoyed about your course?

I’m studying Events and Tourism, and one of the things I’ve really enjoyed is how practical and applied the learning has been. Rather than just focusing on theory, the course often puts us in real-world scenarios—whether it’s through live projects, client briefs, or fieldwork. We learn by doing, which not only makes the content more engaging but also helps build confidence for future roles in the industry.

How have you found academic support as part of your studies?

The academic support at Westminster has been really reassuring. The lecturers are approachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in our success. I’ve found the feedback to be constructive and clear, and if you take the time to reach out, they’re always willing to help—whether it’s for clarification on assignments or career advice. That openness has made a big difference in my learning journey.

Are there any stand-out facilities associated with your course?

Yes, absolutely. The university has excellent facilities that support collaborative work—particularly helpful for our group projects and presentations. The library, both physical and digital, has also been a standout resource. The online tools available through the library have been essential for research, especially when working remotely or balancing multiple deadlines.

Tell us about your experience of using the University Careers and Employability Service?

I’ve used the Careers and Employability Service a few times, mainly for CV feedback and help with job applications. Each time, I received tailored advice that was really practical and easy to implement. The team there helped me feel more confident in my applications, and it’s great knowing there’s dedicated support for helping you take the next step in your career.

Tell us about any activities that you have undertaken outside of your course

As part of the course, we took two really insightful field trips—one to Lincolnshire and one to Bournemouth. These trips allowed us to apply what we were learning in class to real-life scenarios and gave us a behind-the-scenes look at tourism and event operations in different settings. Beyond my academic work, I’ve also joined several university sports clubs, which has been a great way to stay active and meet new people from other courses and backgrounds.

What would your advice be to someone considering studying at Westminster?

If you're looking for a university that combines diversity, real-world learning, and a prime location, Westminster is an excellent choice. My advice would be to say yes to new experiences, explore all the opportunities available to you—whether it's a society, support service, or industry event—and don’t hesitate to reach out for help when you need it. There’s a lot of support here if you use it.

What's the best aspect of being a University of Westminster student?

Without a doubt, it’s the people. You’re surrounded by a global community—students and staff from all over the world—which makes for such a rich learning environment. There’s always something new to discover or someone with a different perspective to learn from. And being based in London means there’s always something exciting happening, whether it’s career-related or something fun and cultural.

What was the most surprising or unexpected aspect of your Westminster experience?

I was pleasantly surprised by how practical the course is. I expected a more traditional university experience with mostly lectures and written exams, but instead, we’ve been immersed in hands-on learning from the start. Real projects, client interaction, field trips—these experiences have made the course dynamic and incredibly relevant to the working world.
