The Global Mobilities Seminar Series, coordinated by Davide Deriu and supported by the Faculty of the Built Environment’s International Committee, provided a platform for cross-disciplinary and trans-national conversations about architecture as an expanded territory. In a world increasingly characterised by circulations and flows of ideas, images, objects, technologies, finance, and people, the seminars promoted debate about the mutual relations between contemporary cultures of mobility and the natural and built environments in which they take place.

The seminars highlighted research and design work being undertaken and fostered dialogue with colleagues from other institutions. Their aim was to forge new relations of encounter and exchange through exploring ideas, methodologies, and theoretical frameworks for research. As a series, Global Mobilities has now ended, but ad-hoc Global Mobilities Seminars will be hosted from time to time. The 2014-15 series was organised around the topics of Water, Land and Air.
