Westminster Menswear MA students partner with Slam Jam to showcase talent at Milan Men’s Fashion Week

Menswear MA students from the University of Westminster visited Milan to present their final collections at the Menswear MA Degree Show, which was part of Milan Men’s Fashion Week 2026. This year’s show was in collaboration with Slam Jam, a globally renowned Italian creative platform working at the intersection of fashion, art and contemporary culture. The trip was supported by the University’s partnership with the Quintin Hogg Trust, enabling students to showcase their work on a global stage.

Held between 17-18 June, with the private viewing taking place on 17 June at the Slam Jam Centre in Milan, the Westminster showroom offered a dynamic platform for graduates to exhibit their work to an international audience of buyers, press and fashion industry professionals. The two-day showcase featured student collections, zines and fashion films.

The students’ work mirrored industry practice as they engaged with live projects, such as the Westminster Menswear Archive (WMA), and was grounded in material research, cultural insight and technical rigour. Each graduate brought a distinct approach to what menswear can be, through reinterpreting tailoring, challenging gendered norms, reengineering construction or exploring global heritage.

Alongside the student showcase, the WMA presented Visible Systems: Westminster Menswear Archive x Slam Jam, a focused installation developed with selected objects from the WMA & Archivio Slam Jam. The installation examined how menswear operates through systems of visibility, work, sport, public order and belonging.

The Milan showcase built on Westminster's successful appearances at London Fashion Week and Paris Showrooms, reinforcing its reputation as a launchpad for some of the most exciting names in Menswear, including S.S. Daley, Priya Ahluwalia, Robyn Lynch and Paolo Carzana.

Together, the showroom and exhibition place the students’ work in a wider menswear context: one shaped by archive, subculture, technical clothing, retail, image-making and the movement of garments between streets, systems and institutions. This international platform also reflects the University’s investment in students’ futures through Zone29, Westminster’s new home for careers and enterprise, which connects students and graduates with industry through work‑related programmes and opportunities.

About the showroom Anthony Rawson-Campbell, Global Engagement Director at the Westminster School of Arts, added: “Working with Slam Jam creates opportunities that extend beyond the University. It enables our students to present their work to an international audience while contributing to wider conversations around contemporary menswear.”

Samuele (Misa) Ricchiuti, designer of Venticento and one of the students who participated in the degree show, added: “Growing up in Milan, Slam Jam was always a reference point for me as it shaped my understanding of what innovative, urban menswear could look like on a global stage. Seeing my own garments hanging on the rails I used to browse as a teenager was a surreal full-circle moment. It's an emotion that's hard to put into words.”

“Being able to engage directly with viewers and communicate the ideas behind my work was both enriching and genuinely exciting. Interfacing with industry professionals and hearing their honest feedback on my collection was invaluable - the kind of insight you can't get in a classroom. It also pushed me to sharpen my presentation and interpersonal skills since I had to articulate my vision through real conversation rather than just through the clothes themselves.”

The collaborative exhibition directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure and 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
