Westminster launches 2025 Degree Shows celebrating the next generation of creatives

The University of Westminster has officially launched its 2025 Degree Shows, an annual celebration of talent, imagination and innovation across the University’s School of Arts, School of Architecture and Cities and School of Media and Communication. Taking place across various University of Westminster venues in London from May to July, each show spotlights the bold, diverse and future-facing work of the University’s graduating students.

This year’s line-up features exhibitions, screenings, performances and installations across a wide range of disciplines, from Photography and Animation to Music Production and Architecture, providing the public with a unique opportunity to engage with the creative voices shaping tomorrow’s cultural landscape. A showcase of student creativity, from this year’s Degree Shows to standout projects produced throughout the academic year, will also be featured on the new Westminster Talent website.

The series kicked off on 22 May with the Illustration BA Honours show Drawn to Life, which showcases a vibrant collection of work by emerging image-makers who explore what it means to live, connect and communicate in today’s world.

The exhibition first launched at London Gallery West and Project Space at Westminster’s Harrow Campus. It is set to remain there until 29 May and then will be moved to New Designers, Business Design Centre in Angel to be displayed between 9–12 July. The show reflects a diversity of backgrounds, perspectives and creative voices, united by a belief that Illustration can capture, question and illuminate the stories that shape the world.

The Fine Art Mixed Media BA Honours Degree Show is next to open, beginning on 29 May and running until 2 June, with a Private View taking place on 30 May between 6-8pm. The exhibition will take place at the Ambika P3 Gallery and will showcase the work of 44 students. The pieces will explore and address painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, video, sound, performance, digital media and installation.

Next up is a dynamic multimedia event celebrating the diverse talent emerging from Westminster’s Music Production, Performance and Business BA Honours course. Taking place on 5 June in Portland Hall on the University’s Little Titchfield Street site, this immersive evening will showcase the work of this year’s graduating students through a vibrant, rotating programme of live performances, listening parties, DJ sets and an exhibition of creative work.

Running from 6–10pm, attendees can experience every facet of Westminster’s thriving music scene — from production and performance to the business behind the scenes. It is a unique opportunity to witness the next generation of music professionals in action, all under one roof.

This year's Graphic Design BA Honours graduates will be taking part in their own fully designed showcase titled Ctrl+Design, with all marketing and promotion material related to the show designed by the students themselves. This will be held at the London Gallery West and Project Space at Westminster’s Harrow Campus between 6-21 June, including at the final Open Day for the year.

Also kicking off on the 6 June is Resonance – the Creative Media Arts BA Honours (previously titled Contemporary Media Practice BA Honours) show. Hosted at Ambika P3 and running until 10 June, the event will showcase the experimental and interdisciplinary spirit of Westminster’s Contemporary Media Arts BA Honours programme. Visitors can experience work spanning 16mm film, VR, sculpture, photography and performance, with each piece grappling with intimate narratives and urgent global themes.

The shows continue with the Photography BA Honours Degree Show that will also take place between 6-10 June. Spanning genres from portraiture and still-life to documentary and fashion photography, the exhibition reflects an exciting breadth of creative and experimental approaches, including beautifully handcrafted photobooks and installations incorporating AI and cyanotypes. The work engages with some of the most important and pressing questions of the time, often in subtle and sometimes deeply personal ways, including the impact of rapid technological and social change, the Anthropocene and explorations of the fluidity of identity, demonstrating photography’s power to question, reveal and connect.

Students from the University’s Fashion Marketing and Promotion BA Honours and Fashion Design BA Honours courses are also set to host events to reveal their portfolio to industry professionals. The Fashion Marketing and Promotion BA Honours graduates will exhibit their work in Portland Hall at the University’ Little Titchfield Street site between 11-13 June, while the Fashion Design students wilhost a runway show in Ambika P3 on 13 June. Each event will celebrate the innovative work of emerging fashion talents poised to influence the future of the industry and showcase strategic campaigns, digital storytelling and brand innovation projects.

About the Fashion Design BA Honours show Course Leader Robert Leach said: “It is to be the biggest, most inclusive show to date, featuring the work of 30 students by our cohort from all around the globe, and featuring a wide variety of crafts, from tailoring to applied textiles, print and knit, menswear and womenswear. Staging-wise, under the new course leadership this year, we've thrown the rule book out of the window, so it should be an exciting experience for all those attending from the fashion press and industry, looking out for exciting new talent.”

On Wednesday 18 June, the historic Regent Street Cinema will then host the Animation BA Honours Show from 2–5pm. Featuring work from all three years of the programme, this screening celebrates storytelling in motion through a diverse mix of styles and narratives.

The summer season will then see the start of OPEN 2025, a celebration of work from the School of Architecture and Cities, which will run from 20 June – 11 July. The ambition and confidence of the projects on show reflect the creativity and experimentation found in the day-to-day life of the School. The way that students and colleagues work together showcases the School as one of collective intelligence, capable of tackling the local and global issues of today.

While several degree shows are open to the public, both the Film BA Honours and Television Production BA Honours courses will host private viewings of their final-year work. Although these events are not open to external audiences, they represent a significant moment of celebration and achievement for students.

Dr Doug Specht, Head of the School of Media and Communications, said: “Our Degree Shows are a celebration of the creativity, innovation and dedication of our students. They offer a window into the diverse ideas and critical perspectives that define the School of Media and Communication. I am continually inspired by the way our students challenge assumptions, tell new stories and imagine better futures. These shows are not just a culmination of academic work, but a testament to the power of communication to shape and transform our world.”

The Degree Shows directly contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, as each one gives graduates the chance to showcase their work to industry professionals and gain vital experience to boost their careers. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
