For the second year, the University hosted individual course degree shows in person across London as well as online on the dedicated degree shows website.

Following its successful launch in 2021, the Westminster Degree Shows online platform showcases the work of graduate students from all participating courses, from Fashion and Journalism to Music.

The degree shows began with the Fine Art Mixed Media show running between 6 May and 1 June at the Ambika P3 Gallery at Westminster’s Marylebone Campus.

The Public Relations and Advertising BA Honours final-year students showcased their work at the London Gallery West and Project Space at Westminster’s Harrow Campus between 17 – 20 May. Ben Levine, Director and Senior Partner at FleishmanHillard UK, one of the largest PR agencies in the UK, was the keynote speaker sharing his extensive knowledge on integrated PR measurement.

The Fashion Design BA Honours Catwalk Show took place on 9 June as part of London Fashion Week. This year’s graduates explored Afrofuturism, tactile jazz inspired knits, the 1960s French new wave, opulent Iranian layering, 1940’s hop pickers, the paintings of Richard Smith, Polish folk costume and sculptural 3D printed prosthetics, among other collections on show.

ENCORE then took place between 9 – 25 June, where Graphic Communication Design BA Honours final-year students showcased their projects also at the London Gallery West.

This was followed by RESURGENCE, with work on display by Contemporary Media Practice BA Honours final-year students, between 15 - 17 June at the Ambika P3 Gallery. The students showcased innovative and exciting ways to experience art and culture – whether that’s through moving images or emerging technologies.

The School of Architecture + Cities’ degree show, OPEN 2023, took place from 15 June to 2 July. This hybrid exhibition of projects reflected the varied design approaches of the School of Architecture + Cities, its diverse students and their place at the heart of London. This year’s show celebrated the openness and diversity of Westminster’s Architecture and Design students and included an extensive range of creative student work.

The Photography BA Honours Degree Show then took place between 23 - 26 June.

BLOOM, the Illustration and Visual Communication BA Honours Degree Show, took place at the London Gallery West 25 June. The work on display here by final-year students took on a variety of visual forms and explored themes such as folklore, urban, natural and fantasy worlds, mental and physical health, beauty, education, science, social commentary and personal history.

Speaking about the degree shows, Professor Catherine Dormor, Head of Westminster School of Arts, said: “This group of students have demonstrated huge levels of resilience and courage, having spent a significant period of their study under pandemic conditions. I have been deeply impressed by their capacity to develop innovative and creative responses that speak to and beyond these issues. The number of students responding to social and cultural shifts is particularly exciting to see alongside how they have harnessed new and emerging technologies to articulate their thinking.”

I congratulate all the graduating students and thank them hugely for all that you have brought to the community at Westminster.”
