Silvester Belt was joined by Greece’s Marina Satti, Ukraine’s Jerry Heil and Portugal’s Iolanda to sing Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi, the song sung by Dion in 1988 to win the contest for Switzerland.

The group sang during the first semi-final and followed a video message from Dion herself, who expressed her love for the country and how it gave her the chance to “be part of something so extraordinary”.

The 27-year-old Lithuanian singer Silvester Belt has released multiple singles since he graduated from the Music Production, Performance and Enterprise BA Honours course at Westminster in 2017. His 2024 Eurovision song Luktelk was an upbeat, ethereal, techno pop ballad that explores longing, uncertainty and the passage of time. It expresses the feelings of loneliness and the desire for connection.

About being back on the Eurovision stage Silvester said: “It is very nice to be back because I don’t think there is anything like Eurovision in the world. It has been so great seeing everyone and performing again.”

Despite graduating in 2017, Westminster still holds a place in his heart. He added: “I was not very confident when I was 19-years-old, so moving to a different country and doing this course at Westminster really boosted my self-belief and helped me reach my goal way faster than I would have done otherwise. During my time it was just nice to meet all the beautiful people – I am still in touch with a lot of them and it is so good to see them all succeeding.”

Hussein Boon, Principal Lecturer on the Music Production, Performance and Business BA Honours course, said: “We are incredibly proud of Silvester’s achievement in performing at this year’s Eurovision. Throughout his studies with us, he has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of excellence, and it comes as no surprise that he has been chosen as an ambassador for his country. Silvester has taken advantage of numerous opportunities to advance his music career, and he continues to expand his endeavours in both domestic and international music markets. We wish him every success and eagerly anticipate his future musical adventures.”

Silvester’s return to the Eurovision stage exemplifies the power of international cultural collaboration, directly contributing to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By joining artists from Greece, Ukraine and Portugal to celebrate a shared European music legacy, the performance supports cross-border dialogue and mutual understanding. It also reflects the University of Westminster’s commitment to nurturing global talent and creative exchange through education, alumni engagement and the arts.
