The panel included Bonolo Madibe, Senior Program Coordinator at Textile Exchange, who graduated from the Development Studies and International Relations BA course; and Sofia Fominova, Co-Founder of emissions management platform Net0, and alumna of the Marketing Management MSc course. The discussion was chaired by Morgan Lirette, Sustainable Development Advisor at the University of Westminster.

During the event, the panel shared how they found their way into sustainability after graduation, what working in the sector is really like, and how students and graduates can build a career in it. The audience also had the opportunity to ask questions at the end during a Q&A session.

Talking about the event, one audience member said: “Really insightful responses from the panellists. Amazing discussion, especially for beginners who are considering this pathway.”

The event was part of the Difference Festival, a free festival by the University with a wide-selection of programmes exploring global issues. This year, the Festival focused on how universities can aid in gaining insights, knowledge, and tools to confront and facilitate solutions to existing and future challenges.

The What it Takes event series features exciting and innovative alumni speakers sharing their experience and advice on a range of topics, including employability, personal and professional development. For the 2022-23 academic year, a series of in-person and online events have been organised.
