University of Westminster extends heartfelt support for those affected by heightened international conflicts

We would like to express our thoughts to all those affected and distressed by international conflicts.

The University has a highly international community whose members will be impacted in different ways and to a various extent by conflicts around the world. We encourage all students and colleagues to make full use of the University’s support and resources they may need.

Personal tutors and the University's Student Centre Team are on hand to support Westminster students affected by international conflicts. The Student Centre can be contacted  both via Live Chat or by raising a ticket via Compass. On the University’s website the dedicated Student Wellbeing page sets out the range of support resources available including Westminster's Counselling and Mental Health Service. Students, whose studies are disrupted as a result of international conflict, can also apply to defer assessments or the submission of coursework through the University's mitigating circumstances process.

University colleagues are encouraged to reach out to their line manager or People Business Partner for guidance and support, or to find out more about the range of wellbeing resources on the colleague intranet.

The University of Westminster is a proudly diverse and inclusive community and the University values the different perspectives and experiences brought by colleagues and students from different countries and cultures. Westminster condemns all forms of racism and hate speech and is committed to maintaining an environment in which all members of the University should expect to be treated with compassion and respect.

Anyone facing or witnessing any form of harassment or discrimination, should use the Report and Support platform so that the University can take appropriate action.

As a global university, Westminster is committed to increasing the practical support on offer to students whose higher education experience is disrupted by war. The University has developed postgraduate Sanctuary Scholarships which are open to anyone affected by conflict and is working with international organisations including CARA to support students globally.

The University of Westminster is keen to provide the best possible care and support to every member of its diverse community and its numerous partner organisations from across the world dealing with the devastating impacts of international conflict.
