Quintin Hogg Trust and University of Westminster celebrate enduring partnership with £6.5m commitment for 2026/27

To celebrate another year of transformational programmes and initiatives, the University of Westminster hosted its fifth annual Quintin Hogg Trust (QHT) Partnership celebration at Zone29, the University’s new home for careers and enterprise, bringing together QHT Trustees, student and colleague beneficiaries, project leaders and governors. The event provided an opportunity for trustees to hear first-hand about the impact of their generous support and the difference it continues to make across the University community.

The event, held on 1 October, celebrated the University’s unique partnership with the QHT and how they work together to support a diverse array of projects for Westminster students and colleagues.

The celebration started with a welcome speech by Vice Chancellor and President of the University Professor Peter Bonfield, who highlighted the Trust’s unique role as a grant maker. He was joined by Liz Duff, Chair of the QHT Grants Committee, who addressed the impact and importance of the partnership.

The QHT has funded numerous projects over the years, some of which were showcased at the event. These include Westminster Waves, the University of Westminster Climate Assembly and Male Students Solving Their Own Problems, which set out to empower young men to tackle mental health challenges, online radicalisation and political polarisation from the ground up.

A particular highlight was a fashion showcase featuring the work of Menswear MA graduates Gia Jenkins and Jamie Holloway. Through QHT support, the programme, led by Anthony- Rawson Campbell, has helped graduates showcase their collections at Milan Men’s Fashion Week, giving them valuable international exposure and direct access to buyers, recruiters, press and other industry leaders.

The QHT has now approved a new grant for the 2026/27 academic year of £6.5 million. The funding will enable the development of further projects in areas such as employability, research and knowledge exchange, learning and teaching, wellbeing and student experience.

Talking about the celebratory event, Liz Duff said: “It was inspiring to hear directly from students and colleagues about the impact of QHT-funded projects. The partnership celebration provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase achievements across the University, and I would like to thank everyone who helped make the event such a success.”

She added: “The QHT is proud to award £6.5 million in funding for 2026/27, supporting programmes that help students succeed throughout their academic journey. The Board is committed to funding initiatives that advance education and enhance the student experience at the University of Westminster.”

Marius Brodeala, Manager of the QHT Grants Programme, said: “At a time when the higher education sector faces significant challenges, the Quintin Hogg Trust's approval of a £6.5 million grant for 2026/27 demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to the University of Westminster and its mission. We are sincerely grateful for this support, which will enable us to invest in initiatives that improve student outcomes, drive innovation, enhance wellbeing and create a positive impact across our University. Our strong partnership with the Trust continues to create opportunities for students and colleagues to succeed and grow.”

Through its generous funding, the QHT directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3: Good Health and Wellbeing and 10: Reduced Inequalities. Since 2019, the University of Westminster has used the SDGs holistically to frame strategic decisions to help students and colleagues fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
