During induction week we will go through the course structure and timetable with you in detail. We have arranged a number of activities to help you settle in and prepare for your time with us.
On Blackboard you will find a short list of books and other resources that will help you to get a good start in your studies pre-arrival, as well as guidance on equipment and materials. Take particular note on the information about work placement.
We use social media a lot on the course, most notably Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram. So, if you don’t have accounts already, it is worth setting them up.

Blackboard is our online learning platform, which you'll be able to log in to after you've set up your University email address and password.

Equipment and materials
Digital technology
While you can borrow laptops through the University for 24 hours, it's better to have your own. If you're not sure what to buy, our technical support team can advise you once you've enrolled.
No specific equipment is required for this course. We allow students to download the Adobe Suite to their own laptops, so it helps to have a reasonably modern laptop. Those seeking to buy a new laptop, we are Apple-based. You'll be eligible for a student discount on computer purchases.
A smart phone with a good camera function is very useful for recording your work and for online communication.
