What is Clearing?
Clearing is an ideal way to find a place at University if you haven’t yet secured a place or would like to change to another course. Clearing applications open in July and close in September.
Clearing is part of the UCAS application process which helps students who have not yet secured a university place to find and apply for a course.
You might need to use Clearing if:
- you've changed your mind since first choosing your firm and insurance choices on UCAS
- you aren’t holding any offers when you get your results
- you’ve started the university application process later than the 30 June 2026
