About me

I am a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Westminster and hold an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I recently completed my PhD at Queen Mary University of London, UK - where my research explored how learning analytics can inform teaching practice and learning design in higher education.

With over 15 years of combined experience across academia, software development, and professional training, I have taught and led programmes in Computer Science and Software Engineering at universities in the UK and Sri Lanka. My experience spans curriculum design, project supervision, and educational innovation.

Teaching

I teach across undergraduate and postgraduate computing programmes, focusing on Computer Science and Software Engineering modules. At Westminster, I teach Software Development, Database Systems, and Server-Side Web Development, and Trends in Computer Science modules.

My teaching philosophy is built around evidence-based practice and the strategic use of learning analytics in teaching, and I believe in connecting learning to real-world contexts to empower students to become industry-ready, adaptive, and innovative problem-solvers.

Research

My research focuses on Learning Analytics (LA) and Learning Design (LD). With my doctoral research, I investigated how educators can use LA to inform LD in teaching practice, and how learner personality traits influence engagement and performance across different learning activities on digital learning environments.

I actively engage in teaching and learning research, investigating how analytics can enhance the practice of teaching, learning and assessment, where I am keen on AI-driven insights, dashboards, and visual analytics that support evidence-based teaching.

Alongside this, I welcome project supervision and collaborations that apply computing and analytics to real-world problem-solving, including information retrieval, data visualisation, and creative technology solutions.
