I spent 18 years as a practising solicitor working in the voluntary sector (North Kensington Law Centre and Shelter). My practice has been in social welfare law, acting for legally aided clients. I specialised in housing, including asylum support. I graduated with a BA (Hons) Law degree from The University of Kent at Canterbury.
I am a member of the Law Society’s Housing Law Committee and on the Executive Board of the Housing Law Practitioners' Association.
I am a co-author of the Housing Law Casebook, 5th edition published by the Legal Action Group, 2012.
I teach skills (Practical Legal Research, Writing and Advocacy) and Civil Litigation on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and the Masters in Law (MLaw) courses. I am module leader for Housing Law both on the LLB, LPC and MLaw courses. I am also module leader for the Legal Ethics Methods and Skills (2) on the MLaw course.
My research interests are in housing law, civil litigation and access to justice.
