About me

I am a Lecturer of Distributed Computing at the School of Computer Science and Engineering and part of the University Research Centre for Parallel Computing (CPC). I hold a PhD in Distributed Computing, and MSc Degree in Electriconic Engineering.

Since I joined UoW and the CPC I have participated to two main EU H2020 projects lead by Prof. KissCOLA (Cloud Orchestration at the Level of Application) project that investigates how a generic and pluggable framework that supports the optimal and secure deployment and run-time orchestration of cloud applications can be created.COLA and ASCLEPIOS (Advanced Secure Cloud Encrypted Platform for Internationally Orchestrated Solutions in Healthcare) project that focuses on secure cloud-enabled applications in healthcare.

I am also involved in e-Learning projects lead by Dr. Alexander Bolotov: EnAbled,  and, more recently STRESSLESS. These projects focus on creating a theoretical learning framework and related digital solutions to support a learning experience capable of encompassing at the same time a variety of different learning resources and the full spectrum of different profiles of students with their inclinations and preferences.

Teaching

Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

I have several years of experience in teaching Computer Science at various levels of education from primary school to University; I also have experience in teaching in the Industry before I joined the Academia.

My teaching focuses on Distributed Systems: Client/Server Architecture and Big Data Analytics.

I am currently module leader of the following modules:

5COSC004W - Client/Server Architecture.

7BDIN005C - Advanced Big Data Analytics.

Research

My research focuses on two main areas: parallel and distributed computing technologies  (cloud and grid computing) and e-learning.

Regarding the first research interests, I am a member of the University Research Centre for Parallel Computing where I took part in two main EU H2020 projects: COLA (Cloud Orchestration at the Level of Application) project that investigates how a generic and pluggable framework that supports the optimal and secure deployment and run-time orchestration of cloud applications can be created, and, ASCLEPIOS (Advanced Secure Cloud Encrypted Platform for Internationally Orchestrated Solutions in Healthcare) project that focuses on secure cloud-enabled applications in healthcare.

To pursue my second research interest (e-learning), I am involved in two projects: EnAbled and STRESSLESS which aim at creating a theoretical learning framework and related digital solutions to support a learning experience capable of encompassing at the same time a variety of different learning resources and the full spectrum of different profiles of students with their inclinations and preferences.

I co-authored more than 20 scientific papers in journals, conference proceedings and as two book chapters.

My main areas of interest

 - Cloud orchestration at the level of applications

 - Computational workflows

 - Analysis of Information Flows through multi-layerer, distributed architectures.

 - e-Learning platforms.
