About me

I consider myself a relational researcher and practitioner, focusing on human connections and their meanings. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southampton and my Master of Science in Health Psychology from University College London and the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London. I then pursued a Doctorate in Behavioural Medicine at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where I explored the physical and mental health of people from marginalised and minoritised communities.

After completing my studies, I became a Lecturer in Sexual Health Psychology at the University of Southampton and worked with the Solent NHS Trust Sexual Health Services. Currently, I serve as a Reader in Digital Health Psychology at the University of Westminster, where I conduct research on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. Additionally, I hold the position of honorary Visiting Associate Professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, contributing to research in Public Health. I am also currently training in Psychodynamic Therapy to deepen my understanding of how we develop and maintain meaningful relationships in an era characterised by digitalisation and automation.

Teaching

I have taught the following subjects:

- Systematic Reviews

- Grant Applications

- Digital Research Methods

- Research-Based Projects

- Health Psychology

- Epidemiology

- Diversity and Inclusion

- Work Experience in Psychological Settings (Apprenticeship)

- Technology and Innovation

- Ethics

- Digital Health and Public Health

Additionally, I serve as the director for a Master's programme (MSc) in Digital Health and Cyberpsychology, which focuses on the co-design of inclusive technology aimed at reducing health inequalities.

Research

In the past, I conducted research in public health (my Google Scholar profile), primarily focusing on sexual health among sexual and ethnic minority groups. I developed a theoretical framework for vaccination behaviour in men who have sex with men, aimed at informing policies on vaccinations against human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis A and B, MPox, and gonorrhea.

Currently, my research centres on the co-design and implementation of digital health interventions, particularly AI tools that aim to reduce health inequalities. I utilise public health research methodologies to create conceptual frameworks that address the psychological, behavioural, and social aspects related to the use of AI. Additionally, I am interested in the applications of AI to improve both physical and mental health outcomes, with an emphasis on strengthening human-to-human connections.
