I'm part of
I joined the Department of Politics and International Relations in 2007; previously I worked at the University of Sheffield. I gained my PhD in 2005 from the University of Limerick.
I have taught modules at all levels, and currently I am module leader for "Contested Sovereignty: Jurisdiction and Power in Contemporary International Relations" (UG), "Humanitarian Intervention and International Relations" (UG) and "Contemporary Controversies in International Security" (MA).
I am the Postgraduate Director for the Department of Politics and International Relations
I was one of the original co-convenors of the BISA Working Group on the Responsibility to Protect, and I am currently the co-editor of the Routledge "Intervention and Statebuilding" book series. I recently finished working on an ESRC-funded three-year project on “The Responsibility to Protect and Liberal Norms”, and I am currently working on a project funded by Robert Bosch Stiftung on the Specialist Chambers for Kosovo.
I have published twenty-seven book chapters and twenty-nine articles in refereed journals, including International Security, The Journal of Peace Research, Ethics and International Affairs, and Cooperation and Conflict. I have given over one hundred papers at conferences worldwide, written over fifty book reviews, and published many other academic commentaries.
