About me

I joined the University of Westminster in 2020 as a Techne AHRC CDA candidate. I'm an experienced curatorial professional and have worked with nationally and internationally significant collections for twenty years. Currently, I work part-time for the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) and have previously worked as a collections development consultant for the SOAS Library, for the University of Sydney as Manager, Special Collections and Chawton House Library as Librarian. 

Teaching

I am a qualified teacher and taught English Literature, Media Studies and Communications, Art and Design GNVQ Advanced, in FE for 10 years from 1991-2001. 

Research

My doctoral research project focuses on the history and the collections of the RUSI Museum, 1831-1962, My working title is 'The 'lost' museum: a history of empire in objects' and I will be undertaking archival research at RUSI and other archives and museums. These will include the National Archives, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Pitt Rivers Museum, and the archive of Wallis and Wallis, auctioneers of militaria. My research interests include museum history, collectors and collecting, memory, identity and the wider discourses of empire that can be explored through material culture.
