Simon is a Grammy winning mix engineer (U2).
After starting out as a singer/guitarist he joined Mayfair Studios in 1988 where he trained under John Hudson. During four years there he engineered hundreds of sessions and progressed to mixing the hits “Altogether Now” by The Farm and “Missing You” by Soul II Soul. Simon went freelance in 1992 and recorded the New Order album “Republic”. This led to him touring with the band in 1993 as programmer. In the 90s he worked with producers Stephen Hague, Sly & Robbie and Boilerhouse. He also worked on many hip-hop remixes (Missy Elliot, Busta Rhymes, Lil’Kim, Rakim & Mase).
At the end of the 90s Simon re-teamed with Nellee Hooper becoming his mix engineer of choice. Their relationship has included work with No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, U2, Massive Attack, Lamb, Andrea Corr and Paloma Faith. Through the 2000s Simon also mixed projects with producers Rick Smith, Steve Lironi, Rick Nowels and Ewan Pearson, along with production/mix work for Athlete, King Creosote, Little Boots, Mumiy Troll, Operator Please and Boxes.
In 2007 Simon opened his own SSL equipped production and mix studio, Hub II. Since then, his projects include the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony, “T2 Trainspotting”, “Trance” and the National Theatre’s Frankenstein with Danny Boyle, Underworld’s “Barking”, Paloma Faith’s “Fall to Grace” & “A Perfect Contradiction” and Gang of Four’s “What Happens Next”.
Simon also produces selected development projects with new acts such as F.O.X, who recently supported Depeche Mode on two tours and are currently making their third album, and Black Country, New Road.
