Architect | UNStudio

PgDip, DipArch, BA (Hons) Architecture- 2012

At the University of Westminster, I have particularly refined my digital skills and learned to approach architecture with a more three-dimensional perspective and vision. I am now highly capable of producing sensitive yet innovative designs with a strong aesthetic.

What are you doing now?

I am working as an Architect in UNStudio, Amsterdam.

What did you find most valuable about your course at Westminster? How did the skills you learnt during your degree help you to shape your career?

At the University of Westminster, I have particularly refined my digital skills and learned to approach architecture with a more three-dimensional perspective and vision. I am now highly capable of producing sensitive yet innovative designs with a strong aesthetic.

Why would you recommend Westminster as a place to study?

It is a great school, a really good learning environment, diversity of students and tutors. Also, tutors that are working at different universities helps push the standards of students.

What was the best thing about being a student in London?

Accessibility to art and architecture, great opportunity to create networks with architects.

What extra-curricular activities did you participate in that enhanced your time at the University?

I had an active social life within University (at the studios) and outside of the University with architects and other professions. I travelled a lot around Europe.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of pursuing a similar career?

Be proactive about collecting information and trends. Do be focused on one subject only. Be open-minded and respond to issues and design challenges critically. Open yourself for knowledge-share.

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself that may be valuable/interesting to our prospective students or alumni?

I have worked in many large practices including Zaha Hadid, Foster and Partners and UNStudio. It is hard to find the correct practice for yourself. Each practice taught me something new and improved different skills. It doesn't matter which practice you are in. It is important to make the most of each of them.
