About the Group

Food and Taste Studies at Westminster (FATSAW) promotes and facilitates interdisciplinary research across the University for academic staff and graduate students with a scholarly interest in the study of food, drink, taste and consumption. This network is based in the School of Social Science, led by Dr Emily Falconer, who researches food and taste and leads guided academic food tours of Central London to students, academics and the wider public. However, the network is widely interdisciplinary bringing together researchers across the arts and humanities, tourism and architecture, business studies, psychology, life sciences and social sciences at Westminster who have a research and/or teaching interest in food and eating (even where this may not be their primary specialisms). Capitalising on Westminster’s central London location, this network particularly showcases academic research into food and taste within Greater London and the UK (whilst also including international research).

The Network will host an internal and external seminar series, run specialised workshops, run academic food tours of central London, organise networking events for collaborative research across disciplines, strengthen working relationships for mentoring, doctorial supervision and research funding applications. It is part of the Centre for Social Justice Research.
