University of Westminster’s Fashion Department works with Inditex for student recruitment day

Colleagues from the global clothing company Inditex visited Westminster from Spain to interview shortlisted candidates from across the University’s fashion courses for graduate roles at the organisation.

The Inditex HR team visited the University of Westminster’s Harrow Campus from their headquarters in A Coruña to interview students shortlisted for roles at the company. Opportunities available were mainly at Zara, although students were also introduced to roles across other Inditex brands, which include Bershka, Pull&Bear and Stradivarius.

This marked the third consecutive year that Inditex has visited Westminster to recruit graduating students from across Westminster’s Fashion Department, building upon its long-standing relationship dating back to 2013. Students from Fashion Design BA Honours, Fashion Business Management BA Honours, Fashion Business Management MA, Fashion Manufacturing MA and Fashion Sustainability MA courses took part in this year’s event.

The day began with an insightful presentation from the Inditex team, who shared information about the company, the recruitment process, life in A Coruña and the support available to graduates relocating to Spain. This was followed by individual interviews with Design and Business representatives.

The event gave students a valuable opportunity to gain direct exposure to an international fashion employer and develop their confidence through a professional interview experience.

The annual Inditex recruitment process is highly competitive, attracting more than 5,000 applicants worldwide for around 140 places each year. Westminster alumni have been particularly successful in securing positions through the programme, with two graduates currently working at Inditex. One alumnus, Grace Tayo, secured a job with Zara and since starting has had many highlights, including designing the outfit worn by Bad Bunny at the 2026 Super Bowl half-time performance.

Others who began their journey through this route have gone on to build impressive careers across the industry, progressing into roles such as Senior Designer at BOSS, Designer at Primark and, in some cases, launching their own successful fashion brands. Westminster’s work with Inditex highlights the University’s strong industry links and its commitment to creating valuable career opportunities for students. Industry collaboration like this forms a key ambition of Zone29, the University’s new home for careers and enterprise due to open in Spring 2026. Through Zone29, the University is set to build on this work further by connecting students from all backgrounds with industry professionals to build the confidence and networks they need to succeed.

Along with the recruitment day, Westminster Fashion Business Management BA Honours students had the opportunity to visit Inditex HQ in A Coruña where they saw first-hand how the fashion group operates. Fashion Design BA Honours students also took part in a live industry project where they were tasked to choose an Inditex brand to design for and create a fantasy brand collaboration. The winners won a trip to visit the HQ of the brands they designed for, including Zara Man and Massimo Dutti.

Sophia Major, Fashion Sustainability MA student, said: “I really enjoyed the structure of the day, with Inditex’s presentation of the company and how the programme works, followed by the interviews. Their presentation was really useful in helping me better understand the organisation and the interview process itself was beneficial in boosting my confidence, as they were a very nice and approachable team.”

Allison Harris, final year Fashion Business Management BA Honours student, said: “The experience with Inditex was one of the most valuable I’ve had during my time at Westminster. Having the opportunity to engage in an open discussion and interview with the Inditex team was not only incredibly beneficial for my career development but also helped me strengthen my interviewing skills and confidence. I’m so glad this opportunity will be available to future Fashion Business Management students.”

Robert Leach, Course Leader for Fashion Design BA Honours, added: “The new live industry project went one step further to strengthen our decade-long relationship with the Inditex group and to provide students with valuable insight into Inditex and the wider fashion industry. Those students who were chosen to visit Inditex headquarters found the trips incredibly helpful in considering their career choices.”
