University of Westminster connects media giants with the next generation of talent at Zone29 event

The University of Westminster has hosted the Step into Zone29 Media and Entertainment event to connect students with senior leaders from the Media and Entertainment industry, including the BBC, the British Film Institute and The Walt Disney Company. The event gave key organisations the chance to learn more about the University’s talented and diverse student community and pledge their support for the next generation by offering internships, graduate job opportunities and mentorship.

Taking place on 6 November and hosted by Tom Toumazis MBE, Deputy Chair of the University’s Court, students had the chance to showcase their skills and find out more about potential jobs, internships and live projects. Key organisations included the BBC, the British Film Institute, Banijay Entertainment, ITN, ITV, PRS for Music and The Walt Disney Company.

Eliana Folin, Contemporary Media Practice BA Honours student, Fabio Telles, Business of Film MA student, and Najma Dahir, Digital Marketing BA Honours student, took to the stage during the event for a lively panel discussion where they shared their perspectives and outlined their career aspirations.

The event also showcased the University’s latest investment in its students’ futures, Zone29, Westminster’s new home for careers and enterprise, providing students and graduates with access to work-related programmes, opportunities and experiences, which is due to open in Spring 2026.

The opening of the Zone29 building will create new practical opportunities for learning and engagement with employers within and outside of the curriculum in an inclusive, sustainable environment. The University is seeking to build new partnerships with employers in key sectors to support students to launch their careers and to help employers access the diverse talent they need to succeed.

It was great to welcome leaders from across the Media and Entertainment industry to the University, and we look forward to turning the pledges of support into transformational opportunities and deliver on our ambition of career readiness for all our students.”
