Miriam Dwek, Diversity and Inclusion Research Lead, was interviewed for a video as part of the BBC’s 50:50 project about female representation in the media, which was produced by Film BA students at Westminster.

In the interview, she said: “Social progression is actually reduced as a result of under-representation. Their voices are not heard, their problems are not acknowledged.

Talking about what she thinks needs to continue changing to keep social progression, she added: “Having women’s voices, and other diverse groups of course, is really important, because it is embedding people’s right to be in a discipline.

"Projects like the one you’re doing here with 50:50 are really important because actually they’re highlighting that there is still an issue, so the more women that are involved asking the questions, then more women will get involved and it will start to snowball. Social change isn’t going to happen overnight, it takes a long time for change to happen."
