Earlier this month, students formed groups and held an array of events to raise funds for their chosen charities that they were passionate about. The project was held in the Postgraduate Entrepreneurial Mindset and Opportunities Creation module, as part of the Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Enterprise Development MSc course.

Five student groups on the module competed to raise the most funds for their chosen charity. The winning group were Lara who raise £442 for CoppaFeel, a charity raising awareness of breast cancer. Team Ubuntu came in second place with Juggling for Mental Health, and other charities included The Shots Foundation, Great Ormond Street Hospital and SOS Africa.

The winning group consisted of Lucia Oravcova, Anmol Mohanty, Alunood Almulla and Raya Gunova. Some of the activities that they organised in order to raise funds for CoppaFeel included candle making, baking, yoga, online games and innovative social media campaigns.

Talking about the project, module leader Dr Spinder Dhaliwal, said: “The groups were incredible this year. For the first time, they had to raise money virtually in a short space of time with limited resources. The students rose to the challenge, demonstrating their resilience, determination and sense of fun.
