Why not boost your career-readiness and tackle global issues in these University-wide electives?

Following the successful launch of Vertically Integrated Projects (VIPs) for Sustainable Development for Level 4 students in January 2026, these University-wide electives will now be open to all Undergraduate students from 2026-27.
VIPs give you the chance to collaborate with academics on practice research aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ‘Vertical’ means you’ll be working with students from different levels on the project – it also means you can continue with the project year-on-year. Being a University-wide elective, students from different courses will be in your project, as well.
How do VIPs work?
VIPs are 20-credit modules, but their context is determined by your level of study:
- Level 4 students take part in VIPs in Semester 2 only, meeting for a 2-hour seminar weekly
- Levels 5-6 students take the module over the whole year, meeting for a 2-hour seminar fortnightly throughout 2026-27
The rest of your time will be dedicated to your project work and research.
All seminars will take place in Westminster’s new home for careers and enterprise, Zone29.
Enrolling in the VIP module allows you to select a project that speaks to your passions, and you can browse the stellar line-up of VIPs here. There’s no need to decide which project you wish to participate in just yet – we’ll finalise this at the start of 2026-27. All you need to do is register for the module during the module registration window 9am 1 April – 5pm 29 April 2026.
Why take VIPs?
VIPs boost your career-readiness and put into action Westminster’s mission to help students and colleagues from all backgrounds fulfil their potential and contribute to a more sustainable, equitable and healthier society.
