Support for Student Carers at Westminster

Balancing university life with caring responsibilities? You’re not alone – and we’re here to help.

At the University of Westminster, we understand that being a student carer brings unique challenges. We are committed to making sure you feel supported throughout your studies.

What support is available?

  • Confidential Advice and Guidance: Our Wellbeing team offers tailored, one-to-one support to help you navigate university life.
  • Financial Help: Bursaries or funding may be available to you. Our advisers can guide you through what’s available and help with applications.
  • Academic Flexibility and Study Support: Caring responsibilities can sometimes affect your studies. Our tutors and support staff can help you with deadlines, attendance, and workload management.
  • Wellbeing and Mental Health Services: Our Counselling and Mental Health Service offers free, confidential support for your mental health and wellbeing. Our Student Wellbeing team can also provide advice and support sessions.
  • Careers support: Our Careers team can help you explore flexible career paths and prepare for the future, taking your caring role into account.

Are you a student carer? Let us know early so we can support you sooner. You can contact the Wellbeing team through the Student Centre or ask your personal tutor to refer you.
