Sign up for the Westminster Award (WA) and get recognised for the extra-curricular activities you do while developing skills employers value.

What is the Westminster Award?
The Westminster Award (WA), formerly known as the Westminster Employability Award, recognises the extra-curricular activities you take part in outside of your studies and helps you develop the skills that employers are looking for. By completing the Award, you can gain valuable experiences, reflect on your strengths, explore different career paths, and build the confidence to become job ready.
The Award is designed to help you grow personally and professionally while discovering more about yourself and the opportunities available to you.
The Award was rebranded over the summer with a new name and a fresh look, however all the activities, opportunities, and benefits remain the same as before.
Why should you get involved?
Completing the Award will help you gain valuable experience, build important skills that employers want, and enhances your career prospects in a competitive job market. Explore different career paths and prepare for the job market.
Upon completion, you’ll receive recognition for your achievements — from digital badges and an e-certificate to the possibility of winning a financial prize. Students who achieve Gold or above may also be invited to our exclusive end-of-year celebration event!
How can you sign up?
Undergraduate students can register by selecting ‘Bronze level’ on CareerZone. Postgraduate taught students (MA, MBA, MsC, MRes) can register by selecting ‘PGT level’ on CareerZone.
You can complete the Award during your time at the University. There is no sign-up deadline, and you have until 1 May of your graduation year to complete it.
Become a Westminster Award Leader
You can also now apply to become a Westminster Award Leader. This opportunity will enable you to build confidence, develop new skills, and gain experience while contributing to the Westminster Award.
We’re looking for students who have taken part in the Westminster Award and know how it can support others. Whether you’ve completed Bronze, Silver, or Gold, your experience is valuable — and we’d love to hear from you.
The scheme is open to all students, not just those with leadership experience. We’re here to support you, help you grow, and give you the tools to succeed as a Leader.
Apply now to become a Westminster Award Leader.
Applications will close on Sunday 5 October 2025.
