The Explore Teaching scheme offers students (and recent graduates) the opportunity to complete a 15-day placement within a school or college setting, enabling them to explore a career in teaching. Placements are voluntary and usually completed on a part-time basis.

Applications for the Explore Teaching Scheme are now open, with placements due to take place between September and December 2024.

Application deadline: Sunday 19 May 2024.

Students can find out more about the scheme and submit their application via the Explore Teaching webpage.

We will also be running an Information and Application Support session for interested students on Tuesday 26th March 2024 between 1pm – 2pm. Students can sign up for the session via Engage.

How the scheme works

Students going out on Explore Teaching placements in the Autumn will be eligible for reasonable travel expenses when public transport is needed to get to the placement location.

Upon successful completion of the scheme, the Explore Teaching team will provide students with a letter of reference, which can be used to support future applications to Teacher Training courses or employment within the education sector.

Who is eligible?

The scheme is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as recent graduates of the last three years. Applications are welcome from international students, as well as those taking a work-based and placement learning module during the 2024 - 25 academic year.

For more information, students can contact the Explore Teaching team at [email protected].
