Celebrating students’ achievements at the Westminster Employability Awards Celebration 2025

On Tuesday 17 June, the Careers and Employability Services were proud to host this year’s Westminster Employability Awards (WEA) Celebration event.

The event brought together over 250 students, colleagues, and employers to celebrate achievements across a range of Westminster employability initiatives, including the Westminster Employability Award, Talent Bank, Placements, Work-Based Learning, WeNetwork, Future Ready Mentoring, Global Mobility, Sustainability, Volunteering, and more.

The annual celebration provides a wonderful opportunity to present awards to students who have successfully participated in various employability initiatives and to hear from speakers representing schemes.

These awards recognise students who have gone above and beyond and reflect the dedication they’ve shown throughout the year.

Deepanvita Koppada, a third-year student from the BSc Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience course, and winner of the Westminster Personal Development Award said: “The Westminster Personal Development Award has helped me grow in confidence and self-awareness. It gave me the structure to reflect on my experiences beyond the classroom and recognise the transferable skills I’ve developed. This recognition motivates me to continue building a career that’s driven by purpose, impact, and continuous learning.”

Some key careers highlights for this academic year include:

  • 3,558 WEA completions and over 100,000 activities logged
  • 1,259 careers consultant appointments
  • 54 employer events with over 2,750 student attendees
  • 1,096 placement appointments
  • 228 students on long-term placements and 721 on short-term placements
  • 4,791 WBL (work-based learning) students completed 35+ hours in 2024/25
  • 29 Virtual Skills Academy sessions with 852 attendees
  • Over 2100 mentoring relationships have been created across three branches of Future Ready Mentoring, with more than 4500 hours of mentoring taking place overall.

Huge congratulations to this year’s award winners and a big thank you to everyone who joined the celebration, as well as all colleagues' continuous support for the Westminster Employability Award and career programmes.
