The Explore Teaching Scheme offers you the opportunity to complete a 15-day placement within a school or college setting, enabling you to explore a career in teaching.
Applications are now open for the Explore Teaching Scheme, with placements taking place between February and July 2026. Placements are voluntary and usually completed on a part-time basis.
The deadline to apply is Sunday 19 October 2025. You can find out more about the scheme and submit your application via the Explore Teaching Scheme webpage.
An Information and Application Support session will also take place for anyone who would like to apply on Tuesday 7 October 2025 from 1-2pm. Sign up for the session via CareerZone.
When you've completed the scheme, you’ll gain valuable teaching experience, receive a reference letter to support teacher training or job applications, and earn a Certificate of Achievement. Your hours may also count toward the Westminster Award or a work placement module.
The scheme is open to all undergraduates, postgraduates, and graduates from the past three years—including international students and those enrolled in work-based or placement modules during the 2025–26 academic year.
