Join us for Modern Masculinities, a free one-day conference exploring what matters to men today.

This engaging event brings together students, researchers, practitioners, creatives and policymakers to examine men’s health and wellbeing in contemporary society - and to contribute to meaningful conversations for change.

Why get involved

Men’s health remains a critical issue. Suicide is a leading cause of death among men under 50, and healthy life expectancy averages just 61.5 years. This conference offers a valuable opportunity to explore these challenges and more.

By attending, you will be able to:

  • Network with scholars, students, professionals and policymakers across disciplines
  • Hear from a diverse range of speakers
  • Take part in discussions on topics including mental health and wellbeing, social media and AI, identity and relationships, and so on
  • Engage in creative and wellbeing activities
  • Contribute to national conversations on men, health and wellbeing

Who are organising

The conference is organised by Damien Ridge, Tina Cartwright, Alison Fixsen, Chantal Gautier and James Kempley (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences), in collaboration with students.

The event is funded by the Quintin Hogg Trust and is open to students and colleagues from across the University.
