Starting your career can feel exciting, but it can also bring a lot of self-doubt. You might question whether you’re good enough, compare yourself to others, or feel like everyone else knows what they’re doing except you. If that sounds familiar, this session is for you.
This practical and interactive workshop explores how you can recognise and challenge impostor syndrome, build confidence in a realistic way, and navigate the early stages of your career with greater self-awareness. Through honest reflection, relatable examples, and actionable strategies, we’ll unpack why self-doubt shows up so strongly after university and how to stop it from shaping your decisions.
You’ll leave with greater clarity on what impostor syndrome actually is, a stronger understanding of how confidence can be built over time, and practical tools to help you show up more boldly in your work, opportunities, and career decisions.
What will you learn?
- You will understand what impostor syndrome is, how it can show up in your early career, and why so many capable graduates experience it
- You will challenge unhelpful thought patterns by learning how to spot self-doubt, comparison, and fear-based thinking before they start holding you back from opportunities and growth
- You will build confidence in a realistic way and explore how confidence is built through action, reflection, and self-trust - not by waiting until you feel completely ready
- You will learn strategies to manage nerves, respond to setbacks, speak about your strengths more clearly, and take up space more confidently in the workplace
Please note the Graduate Success Series is aimed at final-year students, postgraduates and recent graduates from classes of 2023, 2024 and 2025. There is no degree requirement to sign up.
