Organisational Change: Managing Work Stress

This is a workshop for staff who have experienced a lot of organisational changes. These changes may have affected the staff significantly and stirred up very difficult feelings. Change can make staff feel much more stressed and anxious. This workshop will address coping with change and managing the anxiety and stress.

How to Work with Difficult Students and the Challenges they Present

This is a workshop to help staff to deal with difficult students and challenging situations in their roles. This can include working with students who may have poor mental health and who may be at risk of self- harm and suicide. The workshop will cover how to manage these challenges, to offer appropriate support and refer as necessary.

The Emotional Aspects of Learning and Teaching

This workshop will look at the task of learning, which is an emotional one. Tutors play an important part in creating conditions which will help the students make the most of their potential including helping students to settle down, cope with the stresses of academic life and to support their development.

This is a workshop to look at the role of the personal tutor including some thinking about the boundaries of this role and when to refer on. The skills needed to perform this role, managing student expectations and how to build effective relationships. It will provide an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of the role.
