About me

Rebeca is a Senior Lecturer in Economics. She joined the Westminster Business School in September 2008. Previously, she was Teaching Fellow and Named Internal Examiner at the Department of Economics and Business School at the University of Warwick, respectively. She was also Teaching Assistant at the Department of Economics and Management School at the University of Leicester.

Rebecca graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with a first class degree in Economics and a postgraduate diploma in Mathematics Applied to Economics. After working at the National Institute of Statistics, Geography and Computational Sciences (INEGI) as the Head of Prices and in VALMEX as a Fellow Economics Analyst, she moved to the United Kingdom to continue her studies. She graduated from the University of Warwick with a M.Sc. in Quantitative Development Economics and from the University of Leicester with a PhD in Economics.

Teaching

Rebeca is Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) with wide-ranging experience in teaching at different levels of education including UG and PG studies. Her main teaching interest are in Macroeconomics, International Macroeconomics and Economic Policy. She has previously taught at the UNAM, University of Leicester and University of Warwick a range of economic modules including Business Economics, Microeconomics, Development Economics, Statistics, Economics for Management and Business, and Maths Applied to Economics.

Currently, she is teaching core modules in Macroeconomics at both UG and PG level and Research Methods. She also leads two PG project modules and is PRESTige adviser and reviewer.  

She supervises MSc dissertations across a range of courses including the MSc in Economic Policy and Analysis and International Development Management. Also, she supervises PhD students in her area of expertise. 

Research

Rebecca's research interests include applied macroeconomics, emerging economies and monetary policy. With a further interest in small firms finance and organisational behaviour.
