About me
I joined the University of Westminster as a Lecturer in Chinese Studies in 2026. Prior to this appointment, I taught for four years at King’s College London as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Hourly Paid Lecturer. I received my PhD in Film and Media from King’s College London, following an MA in Film Studies from the University of Southampton and a BA in Communication Studies from the Communication University of China.
My teaching and research have long focused on cultural studies, screen cultures, cultural memory, activism, and digital media and technologies.
Teaching
I currently teach across a range of undergraduate modules at the University of Westminster, spanning language, cultural studies, and social and environmental justice. Before joining Westminster, I taught at King’s College London across areas including digital media, the cultural industries, and screen cultures. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), and at King’s I received the CMCI Best Seminar Leader Award, alongside several other nominations for teaching excellence.
Research
My research focuses on cultural studies, screen cultures, cultural memory, activism, and digital media and technologies. I am particularly interested in how difficult pasts are mediated through screen media under changing technological, political, and historical conditions.
My doctoral research examined how memories of the Third Front Movement have been produced and negotiated by state and non-state actors through diverse forms of screen media in post-socialist China. My current research explores the intersections of generative AI, cultural memory, and media work in East Asia.
