Ulrike Leyens is a freelance photographer and Senior Lecturer in Photographic Practice at the University of Westminster. After graduating with a degree in Photography at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld, Germany she moved to London to complete her MA in Design and Media Arts at University of Westminster. She works mainly in the editorial area and her work has been shown in national and international publications like Wallpaper, Fabric, Simon and Schuster, John Murray Publishers, Time Out, Der Spiegel, Stern, Die Zeit, Brigitte, Chrismon, Financial Times Deutschland etc.
In 2001 Ulrike was the participating photographer in the project 'On the Line', funded by the Millennium Commission, which brought together children from Ross-on-Wye in the Midlands and Burkina Faso, Westafrika to document their lives with a camera. This project as well as another were exhibited in the Hereford Photography Festival Exposure and Ulrike participated in several international solo and group exhibitions.
