About me
Ulrike is a documentary and editorial photographer with a degree in photography from the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld, Germany, and an MA from the University of Westminster.
With nearly 25 years’ experience as a freelance photographer, she has worked on commissions for renowned publications like Stern magazine, Der Spiegel, NZZ and Brigitte, as well as international collaborations in the US, China, Burkina Faso, Germany and the UK.
As an educator, Ulrike has a great passion for helping students to develop their own photographic practice with a critical understanding of the medium and intended context. Ulrike enjoys working especially with the printed page, photo and artists ' books, different forms of publications and printing processes and book editing.
In her personal work, Ulrike often explores notions of identity, family and memories. In recent years, her practice has shifted towards a more experimental approach utilising a broad range of materials and printing processes, resulting in multi-faceted and layered work.
